Zakon Group CTO Chairs International Security Conference
Conway, NH — November 30, 2011 — Zakon Group's co-founder and chief technology officer, Robert Zakon, is chairing the 27th Annual Computer Security Applications Conference (ACSAC) being held December 5-9, 2011 at the Walt Disney World Resort® in Orlando, Florida. ACSAC is the longest-running computer security conference in the world and one of the most prestigious. Zakon received the honor of chairing this year's ACSAC in recognition of his work in the computer and information security fields.
Zakon has been involved in computer security for over 15 years. He was a principal engineer in the Information Security Group at the MITRE Corporation, where he received numerous awards for providing innovative security technology solutions and policy guidance to the US intelligence community. Now, through Zakon Group, he provides security consulting services to both government and industry clients. Zakon Group's security projects have ranged from developing secure enterprise architectures to writing privacy and security policy for a nationwide electronic health records network. A project currently under way involves providing technical guidance to the US government on enterprise security services for hundreds of millions of users.
Zakon Group uses this security expertise not only for its enterprise and government clients, but also applies it when developing web sites for small businesses and non-profit organizations. Other web developers also gain from this experience as Zakon Group offers classes on developing secure web applications. The classes have been taught over the last few years at various conferences throughout the country as well as internationally, with the most recent class sold out at the OWASP AppSec USA 2011 conference.
"It is just as rewarding to work with a large organization at the forefront of information security," said Zakon, "as it is to educate small businesses and self-employed developers on ensuring a safe web experience for themselves and their clients." He went on to add that "the security field is very dynamic, and although it can be difficult for a developer to keep up with the latest techniques, it is imperative to do so as a single vulnerability could be exploited causing serious damage to both data and client confidence."
