Zakon Group's OpenConf Software Used in 90 Countries
Conway, NH - August 20, 2009 - Zakon Group's OpenConf software reached a new milestone this year, having now been used by events in ninety countries.
OpenConf is a peer-review application that supports organizers of events such as conferences, workshops, and symposia. Whereas less than a decade ago, event organizers mostly relied on postal or electronic mail to accept submissions from authors and assign them reviewers through a laborious management process, they are now able to manage all aspects of submission and peer-review expeditiously through OpenConf's web interface. OpenConf has proven to be flexible enough to also be used by grant competitions, and book and journal editors.
The OpenConf software is offered both for download and as a hosted service, providing flexibility for events with their own infrastructure or for those interested in a managed solution. The download version is available in two editions, including a free version for events that do not require the more sophisticated features and are able to support themselves.
The exact date OpenConf reached deployment in ninety countries is not known as not all events using the free download version report their use. However in tracking thousands of known deployments, this milestone appears to have been achieved in the spring. A listing of these events, including a map showing the countries that have used OpenConf, is available at www.OpenConf.com.
